Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has demonstrated its capability of fixing the country’s problems.
“These conditions have been with us for a very long time. Many of these conditions that we now face in our local communities with road and water have been with us from the 90s,” Holness said Saturday night at the JLP’s Clarendon North West constituency conference which gathers the local leaders in discussion of various topics.
At the JLP constituency conference, Prime Minister Holness endorsed JLP candidate Warren Newby for the upcoming election. He also spoke candidly about the upcoming election, warning that getting a third term for the party might not be a cakewalk. “We cannot take anything for granted,” the PM said. “We must work harder than ever to convince the voters that they are better off with us in charge.”
He also acknowledged the growing frustration among some Jamaicans who feel the government hasn’t made enough progress on a number of issues. But he reiterated his commitment to fixing any problems that remain, and pledged to address the concerns of those who aren’t happy with the status quo.
Jamaica has seen some notable achievements in recent times, and the prime minister has spoken about some of these in his most recent address. Some of the things he spoke about include a refurbished Cornwall Regional Hospital, the debt-to-GDP ratio being at its lowest point in over four decades, and an impressively significant decrease of 44 percent in the murder rate in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. These achievements are promising for the nation’s future.
Holness conceded that while the government has achieved many improvements, the country still has far to go.
In the view of Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the current government has done an amazing job in improving citizen security and safety in Jamaica compared to previous year’s in past and the statistics backup those claims.
“We agree, we know and we are working towards perfection, but if you compare it to where we were and where we are coming from, you would see that this government has done an amazing job in improving citizen security and safety in this country,” said Holness.
I would love for anyone to give their feedback about the statement made above. The general elections are getting closer and we will cover the upcoming voting term extensively. We look forward to providing the very best news, information and insight on the subject matter.
